Summary

What a monster this guy is. For my money, Collins is the most pro-ready run defender of all interior defensive linemen in this class. Physically, he’s an absolute marvel at almost 6-6 and 332 pounds, but he plays with unbelievable flexibility and pad level, while carrying basically no bad weight. Typically I’m very skeptical of players that tall, as leverage in the trenches is everything, and being too tall is usually a detriment.

I still think that can be true as a pass rusher because you are automatically more upright as you run forward, exposing more surface area for opponent punches. Collins has a lot to prove in that area, as his pass rush production over 1,800 career snaps is pretty limited. If the tape was even good in that area, Collins would be a top 10 pick. As it is, Collins is more capable than impressive as a pass rusher. He really tries stuff, even running over Oklahoma’s center on a bull rush. The 5th-year DL flashed a double swipe, leaping cross chop, spin move, push-pull, bull rush and more on tape. He just isn’t very explosive or laterally quick, limiting the attack potential. His spin move is literally a pirouette - spinning in place, gaining no ground. But the physical traits are so elite that he’ll get some wins just by being so big and strong, even in the NFL.
