Strengths

• Outstanding frame with the size and length for edge work in the NFL
• Varies pace well to hit counter moves. Always trying to set something up
• Inside spin was one of the more consistent weapons I saw from any rusher this season. Toyed with blockers to set up the spin, even throwing in fake dips and ghosts before spinning
• Enough bend to turn the corner to the pocket against most competition. Gets his hips clear of the blocker and reduces his surface level to clear punches at the apex
• Slippery athlete who can sneak by even when tackles think they are in good position
• In pass obvious situations with the lead late in games this season, Umanmielen took over. A real force to deal with when he was just teeing off.
• Not a power rusher, but he isn’t hesitant to change it up and throw a bull rush or long arm in there to keep tackles honest
• Softens the edge with jukes and hesitations to get tackles off balance. Lower body strengthen to run through desperate punches at the top of the arc
• Has a good feel for rushing the passer, even if his explosiveness and urgency aren’t always elite
• Sees the outside chip coming and will look for the inside counter early

Concerns

• Burst and speed just aren’t consistent. Too many reps where he is lethargic off the ball or into his rush
• Doesn’t always play to his physical measurables, more of an evasive pass rusher than a forceful one
