Scouting Notes
Route-running is a work-in-progress as far as consistency goes, but Loveland has rare ability to create separation against all types of coverages. His explosiveness off the line of scrimmage gives him a vertical push that opens up off coverage/zone defenders and creates space for him to break into. Loveland’s speed is a massive asset on posts and over routes, which he ran frequently with great success. Deep post against Oregon with the safety capping his route was a good example. Loveland ran him off and then broke on the post against middle-of-field open coverage.
He didn’t see a ton of man coverage, but when he did you could see the special athleticism. Loveland played through a shoulder injury all season, so sometimes dealing with jams could be an adventure despite his physical mindset. But the burst out of the break is special, even if he’s still mastering the details of where routes need to break and settle.
